Stiff Calves And Sore Achilles

A MyMSTeam Member asked a question 💭

My calves and achilles get really stiff and a bit sore whenever I wake up from bed or have been sitting with my feet up for a while. So stiff I cant walk down stairs properly, I have to plop down clumsily. After a bit of stretching they are back to normal
I have seen physios about the matter but the exercises and stretches they prescribe don't seem to help
I do cycle 25km per day but they are stiff even when I stop cycling for a month or so (initially thought that was the problem).

Ugh @A MyMSTeam Member I'm so sorry to hear that! So annoying! Hopefully people will wise up soon so it's legal for everyone everywhere. It works so well with no nasty side effects. Made having MS much more livable for me. XX

@A MyMSTeam Member we need to fight to get the cbd oil reviewed now in Australia. Hassle your local member. You could get the massage oil version last year. Worked but with a time delay! Now the TGA slapped it into the same class as Medical Marijuana and it is now listed as a narcotic.

@A MyMSTeam Member I just looked it up, apparently there are only 23 doctors in Australia (with a population of 22 million) who are registered to prescribe CBD products.
This seems like a joke. My family Dr can prescribe Opioid based pain killers but cant prescribe a bit of hemp oil.
Seems it would be easier to get the real thing from a "friend". Would also cost less and be hand delivered to my couch while I play xbox and eat a bag of Doritos.

I totally have this issue and have for years (long before my MS diagnosis). My achilles also pop if I go up on my tip toes to reach something up high. It's super painful - I'm so sorry you have this, too! What has helped me a TON is taking a piece of CBD/THC chocolate at night before bed. It allows me to fully stretch out - my muscles literally feel like they are melting (in a good way!) and I wake up feeling very agile and pain free. It's the only thing that has helped - I've tried the exercises and stretches many times and they never seem to make a difference. I think that only works for "non-MS muscles" in my opinion, because they certainly didn't help me. If you try the CBD/THC chocolates (or they have capsules, candies, cookies, or juice drinks, etc.), I hope they give you the relief they've given me! XX

I have the same problem. My achilles always hurt me. I try to find balance in moving and resting.
For me, warmth sometimes helps. Massages are nice but not always helpful as these trigger spasms in the muscles.
Regards,
René
