Hello fine people
I was diagnosed 9/10/15 and since i have had one obvious flare and lots of different symptoms(fatigue, pain, yada yada yada) but my MRI’s have been “stable”
But i just got my report back for the most recent one and i have over 40 lesions just in my brain.
Has anyone ever seen this BIG increase in lesions? The last “count” was 13 or so.
Kind of scared bout this. Ive got a kick butt neurologist and havent spoken with them yet but i thought i would ask on here because after… read more

I was told at diagnosis in 2016 that i had at least 150 or more lesions on my brain and multiple lesions on my spine. My neuro never says whether thats good or bad. Ive learned from what others have reported on their results that this is alot. I think they are more concerned about the symptoms you have, not the no. Of lesions from my experience.

I think that’s true, be more concerned about your symptoms than the number of lesions,, I have found by reading about the lesions on this site that what you think should be happening to your body because of so many or not very many, usually never fits the symptoms your in anyway,,,Just take care of your symptoms the most, they can’t do anything with those lesions anyway as far as I know❤️❤️🙏😍

First of all do NOT panic. It's hard not to, but try. :-) My neuro at Stanford told me that the brain has lots of "real estate" and so generally tolerates a larger number of lesions pretty well. In fact he said most people don't even begin to get diagnosed until after they have 30 lesions on the brain. I got the impression that you could have a large number.

Also, there might be some difference in the way the MRI was taking image cuts. Talk to your neuro, explain your concern, but try not to panic until you have a reason to. I think my first MRI had no lesions, it wasn't until the follow-up that the lesions showed up. I was led to believe that this could be from the way the MRI was slicing images.

I don't know about being expert, but we sure do need to own this thing called MS. :-)
