My neurologist tells me that I have multiple lesions on my brain, has anyone els been told this. And how many is too many they just don't give you a straight answer.
my understanding is also that location can be the important thing not number and last I knew they really can not tell from MRI (even tho they can see the location) exactly what symptom a lesion is related to...... no matter how much they learn about it there is so much not known. The change in the # of lesions showing on your MRI can indicate the activity of your disease...but I learned at a seminar held by the Dr. Vollmer from Denver that even that can be deceptive because a new lesion can hide inside the image of an old lesion on an MRI.
I had the same diagnosis of multiple lesions. My analytical nature wanted to be able to better picture and understand them. I requested a copy of my MRI so I could see the lesions and also to have it for future consultations. You have a right to them, just reuest them from the hospital that conducted your MRI.
For me it help me adjust and accept my diagnosis.
I don't know the number, but this is the actual definition of multiple sclerosis - many sclera (spots). Where they are and how they affect you and if they are active or old.
Not to be rude, but did you ask him/her to explain? If you don't understand what any doctor is telling you ask them to explain. Doctors often forget that most of us don't know their medical language.
I have not been told the number. The one they were very concerned about was on my brain stem. I ask when I get MRIs and they tell me no new lesions and that's it. I am due next week for one since being on Tecfidera so maybe I will get more info then.
Location Location not the house but the spoTs LOL sometimes I cant remember how to get home THAT MAKES IT A BAD DAY
