Here is a link to info on trigeminal neuralgia. I thought it would be good for you to read in case your facial pain sounds like it could be this. My MS doc diagnosed me with this...our wonderful companion MS can cause this too. He prescribed a medication called carbamazepine to treat it. Thank God it worked. I just wanted to pass this info along because the meds helped me and maybe they could help others who suffer from this. It can truly be excruciating pain and this med was like a miracle for me.

It is not fun. When it occurs for me, if i turn my head certain ways it can intensify the pain. My issue now is the right side of my face burns. It is almost like I have road rash. Again, was told it is nerve issues. Thank you MS for everyday giving me new challenges : ).
@A MyMSTeam Member - Yes! That’s exactly what it felt like! Pretty darn intense, and I went through 2 childbirths lol. I did some checking online...it sounds like occipital neuralgia. I’ve had trigeminal neuralgia, which hits your face...I guess it’s similar just a different nerve. Trigeminal was worse. Anything hitting your face or teeth (including air) could trigger it. It’s awful. But, the doc gave me Tegretol for it and Thank God that worked for me.
I get the stabbing pain in the back of my head. I described it to my doctor that it feels like someone is stabbing me with an ice pick. He told me it is nerve pain.
Not teeth probs is it ?
