I am blessed with the ability to find the strangest and least-common side effects of almost everything. The lumbar puncture has been no exception.

Has anyone else had arm, neck, upper back pain from one? It has been over 48 hours and it’s getting worse. I looked online for awhile, because I was worried, and found one article that discuses two patients with similar issues, but that was all. So I thought I’d ask you all on here.

I had a horrible experience with a lumbar puncture about 2 months ago. My neurologist had difficulties puncturing the spinal sack and had to insert the needle multiple times. I was toldto lay down 20 to 30 minutes after the procedure was complete and went home feeling ok.
The next morning i had a severe headache but i continued to lay down and drink a lot of caffeine.
That very night i ended up going to the hospital. My headache got worse but i was also having difficulties walking and moving my neck. It was really scary and painful. I couldn't lay down because of the stiffness in my neck but i couldn't sit up because of the headache. I stayed in the hospital for 2 days before i was finally given a blood patch.
The blood patch was heaven!!! Immediately removed my headache and pain in my neck. I did have to go to physical therapy after that though because after a month and a half i was still having light stiffness and pain. Helped a lot.

If the pain gets worse you should definitely go to the emergency room, especially if it's affecting your neck.

Thank you for listening to me rant lol hope you get better

I took on fluids as told, but as soon as I stood up I got terrible headaches and felt like the whole world was spinning. This lasted for about a week. I should have had serious IV rehydration, but I didn’t!!!!!

I just had scatia nerve problems was very painful and anti inflamitories (predizone )and 500 mg of Naproxin helped, then juicing also acts like an anti inflamitory as well. I pray that everything is ok and that there was not punctures or anything and that you are feeling better.
