I was just wondering if anyone who has MS has been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. I have been living with erratic and low moods for the past 10 years and im only just now being recognised as a possible Bipolar patient. I have read that MS and Bipolar are closely linked and that in actual fact MS may well increases the risk of mental illness.
MS and depression are definitely linked. Because depression and bipolar disorder are both in the same spectrum it's quite possible that MS and bipolar disorder are, too. I have MS, I have one daughter with Lupus and another with Bipolar disorder. I encourage you to remember that being diagnosed is another step closer to good health. With our daughter, it took a few years of trying different medicinal 'cocktails' to stabilize her but she has now been stable for over 10 years. Don't every give up hope of feeling good again.
Hi @A MyMSTeam Member. I have RRMS, MS itself has depression as on of the symptoms, but I was also diagnosed with acute clinical depression after my last child was born almost 19 yrs ago, so I'd say that there's definitely a link between MS and all kinds of depression. I hope that this helps you. God bless you. XXX ππ€
