I’m about a month into starting generic lexapro (escitalopram) for depression & anxiety. I’m only on 7.5mg so far, going slow per doc as I’m very med sensitive & also very medication resistant when it comes to antidepressants. Brand has worked in the past. The first 3 weeks on 5mg I definitely felt worse depression than prior to starting, sometimes worse anxiety too. I’m having on & of insomnia, much extra sedation, which I already had plenty of. I also take anxiety medication, which I’d like to… read more
@A MyMSTeam Member much thanks. I saved everything you wrote about insurance. I think your right about the therapist ASAP. Hope lexapro withdrawal passes ASAP & I can think & function better & actually want to! Take care
@A MyMSTeam Member Thanks much. Sorry I havnt been around lately. I am tapering off of the generic lexapro & can’t afford the brand. I’m under the gun to be halfway emotionally functioning, ASAP, which if anyone suffered from major depression knows equals the ability to be functional in all other areas of ones life, too, when the depression is maneageable. I’m scared away from antidepressants right now. I’m still suffering as I taper off. I really want to try LDN for ms symptoms & hope it is helpful for depression too. No time for trial & error tween now & when I need to go places. Take care
@A MyMSTeam Member Thank you for responding. Yes thank you. I’ve taken & tried several antidepressants over the years, that’s how I know & what I mean by being medication resistant.
So I’m labeled medication resistant for antidepressants I because After fair trials5-6weeks per trial)of almost every antidepressant there is, I either cannot tolerate their side effects, become worse on them, they simply don’t work or a combination of those factors. I’m pretty good at putting up with side effects too, as without my mental health I don’t have much else, so I do give Meds a fair chance.
Lexapro(escitalopram) has worked for me in the past, although it was brand, this time it’s generic, & none of them work without some drawback for me.
I’m not trying to dull nor cover anything up. I’m seeking normal feelings, sleep, etc. Rather than debilitating depression & anxiety. I am planning on adding therapy to the mix once these start up side effects lesson.
Thanks for caring
No sorry I'm not on anything for depression or anxiety. I'll pray that you find the right meds to help you. 😇
@A MyMSTeam Member I'm sorry you're depressed. I really do not believe in doctors or drugs, but when I was diagnosed with MS I thought I should give the neurologist a chance. He told me all my mental and emotional breakdowns were symptoms of MS and could not possible be drug side effects. For a while, I believed him. I was an absolute mess.
I hope you get past the depression.
