Hi all. I was tested for a uti last week & it was negative. Primary Doc said my symptoms soured like urinary retention, it feels like that too. I’ve had a hysterectomy approximately 3years ago, thus the idea for urogynocologist vs just urologist. I just made an appointment with a urogynocologist for next week. Last year I was tested for utis several times & all mostly negative except a couple. Last year i seemed to be plagued by mostly frequent urination & night time waking to go, with some of… read more
@A MyMSTeam Member Much thanks. I meant could capaxone cause urinary retention, not stroke. Oh sorry, I see where the capaxone was mentioned alongside stroke, too. Suppose I was curious. Thanks for all other info
Be well
I was diagnosed with urinary retention last week. They did an ultrasound of my bladder and I have significant retention. It could either be neurological or from pelvic organ prolapse (diagnosed in 2016). My doc is sending me to a urologist for the retention but I will follow up with my gynecologist who is a urogynecologist to see if my pelvic organ prolapse is are worse and causing this problem.
Definitely give your MS nurse a call.
Coffee, orange juice and V8 juice all can irritate the bladder and make symptoms worse. Don't sit on the toilet and strain you'll just make any pelvic organ problems worse. If you can't urinate within a few minutes of sitting there, get up and try again in a few more minutes later. As your sitting there put something under your feet to make your knees just a little bit above flat. Rock your hips back and forth. Sometimes I'll even put a warm wet cloth on top of the pubic hair area and that will also help me go. LOL I even have this waterfall that I will picture in my head when I'm trying to relax my muscles to urinate.
Good luck and keep us updated. Big hugs.
I don't know if you seen my earlier answer please let me know if you didn't
I took Copaxone for a short time I did not like the way that it made me feel and I had a stroke 6 months after starting it due to this I stopped taking all in this meds and just treat the symptoms. I was doing pretty well until this past year I've had a couple of players but knock on wood no more lesions on the brain so far hope you get to feeling better soon
I had the same problem a few years back and was put on medicine cypril times for UTIs and saw a urologist. But it just kind of went away on its own and didn't have any problems until after I had my hysterectomy and then developed a UTI in the hospital and they didn't catch it in time and it went septic and then blood pressure dropped and ended up in the ICU for a week and had to have a PICC line put into the heart so that they could put the medicines straight in to the heart then about 4 days there. So far haven't had any more issues with that hope that I don't have to go through that again. Hopefully you will get to feeling better soon and they will find out what is going on with you and be able to give you a solution you will be in my prayers
