Because of MS has anyone else ever experienced muffled hearing in one or both ears? It's been about a month and it seems to be sticking around. I'm just wondering if this is normal for MS or not?
Concerning Tinnitus. My ENT guy cleans the wax out by hand. He stated that some of the equipment being used is harsh and can cause Tinnitus.
I'll start by admitting I don't have the exact right answer, just my personal experience to add. Unfortunately, I know what it's like to loose something like your hearing for an extended period of time. I had double vision for near a month and, separately, lost the sensation of taste for about the same time period. I think both were separate MS symptoms but really am just making a SWAG (scientific wild ass guess). The good news I can provide is all of my taste and vision issues went away as suddenly as they began. I don't know the cause of the issues but I have a guess. I told my medical team about both these symptoms though. Here's hoping your experiences mirror mine!!
I went totally deaf in my left ear 18 months ago and was worrying it was my MS. Ended up being a massive clump of wax covering my ear drum, after removal I've had constant tinnitus which im still unsure if it's MS related or not.
@A MyMSTeam Member please don't say your appointment is with an audiologist connect to a hearing aid provider!? I do not trust them as their main goal would be to sell you hearing aids.
Far better to see an ENT. Part of their workup will be testing with an audiologist and they can assess then treat whatever is found - even if you may need a hearing aid!
Be well! 👂 👍 😎
About month ago I started hearing ringing in both ears. Worse at night. It’s new and I’m going to let neurologist know at my upcoming appointment. I have made an appointment with audiologists as well.
