I am fairly new to this website. I have had MS since 1995 ( I was 28 yrs old). Up till the last 3 + years I was able to get around pretty well on my feet. I was able to go jogging ( not fast), but could go for about 2 miles. The symptoms I had were mainly on the cognitive side. These last 3 + years, I have been showing more of the physical signs of MS, balance, walking. I can no longer even speed walk. My doctor has kept changing my medicine ( Tecfidera, now on Ocrevius, and now he wants to put… read more
Sorry to hear you’re having new symptoms. When you find a neurologist be sure he reviews all your records of meds and changes to your symptoms. We are our best advocates. Goodluck and prayers for success.
MS is progressive, so new symptoms are likely to appear in time, particularly during the RRMs part. We all travel on the same journey, using different paths, so it is not always possible to predict or compare!
It is likely that if you had RRMS to start with, then you will have progressed to SPMS, at which point DMT is no longer useful, as you no longer have relapses. You will still have decline, but on a straight line rather than in the staggered drops. My straight line is a lucky one, with decline not very obvious to me, but visible to my MS Nurse at the 6monthly clinic.
If you have PPMS, I don't know enough of the pathway to give a credible answer.
Best wishes, but chat to your neuro about where you are.
@A MyMSTeam Member Hope you are having a better day today. Why do you say the Ocrevus isn't working? Are you getting worse? If so you should tell your Neuro and they should shift you to a different drug, not all work for everyone (I'm on a third option which is working). You might have already been on this but "Ampyra" is supposed to help with mobility so might be worth a try.
Don't over think the depression thing,Completely 100% normal to be depressed over this stuff,it's hardly a happy time. Hang in there,it will get easier.
I've has MS since 1997. I was also good until about 3 years ago. I can no longer workout, which I love to do. I'm on Ocrevis currently, but don't think it is working. I also have been put on a lot of medicines to help with MS symptoms. I currently stopped taking them. The side effects were worse than taking them.I now have issues with depression, for not being a "normal" person, or no longer being able to walk very well. I'm on Prozac, which helps. BUT I, wonder if I need
to be on real depression medication.
