I ignored MS symptoms for years from what I know now were flares but not then. I always said that I would see a doctor if the problem was the same in a week. Small problem, I had relapsing remitting MS. Who knew? But the one that causes me to kick myself is the handful of times I'd wake up to my alarm but wouldn't be able to turn it off due to my numb arms. I did go to the hospital after one of those incidents but I didn't know how to explain my problem well and left with high pain killers, I'm pretty sure my first sign was a vision issue when I was 15 and, when I knew what to look for, I had an incident at least annually until my diagnosis. Some of my incidents now make me laugh. What I found is our bodies do a good job of saying something is wrong but we don't always listen

When I look back I probably had it some years before diagnosis. Tingling in legs. Weird trip and fall accidents maybe due to foot drop. But real zinger was double vision.

Hi Jenny!! Welcome ๐Ÿ˜„ I have had many back & joint problems for a long time but the reason I found out I had MS was because I had lost vision in my right eye and eye doctor sent me straight to hospital to see a specialist. They ran tests and found lesions on my brain and was told I had Optic Neuritis which is why I lost my vision which after IV meds thankfully vision returned. I also had periods of balance issues. Although I already had pain from previous problems doctors explained that the pain, muscle spasms, balance issues and fatigue also was playing a factor from the MS.

My very first signs were extreme fatigue and bladder spasms. Me & Dr thought UTI, checked, and all clean... but bladder spasms continued on for about 2 weeks, then went away. The fatigue never did. About 2 months later, things started tasting weird, then by the following weekend, the left side of my face felt numb, which quickly progressed to a serious nystagmus... I couldn't drive, watch tv, read... it was like being totally hammered, room spinning, but no booze... We thought brain cancer, at the rate it was progressing... I'd had stage 4 cervical cancer ~6 years earlier... I went for an MRI, was preparing to be told months... They said not cancer, MS. I was like Hell's Yeah, I can live with that!!! Been rockin it ever since!
