What was your first MS symptom? And what went through your mind at that moment?
The first signs of major problems that lead to an MS diagnosis was I woke up one morning numb from the waist down and had the feelings of electrical shocks going through both legs as I walked. At first MS was never was a thought because the day before at work, I worked in freight forwarding and I bent down to lift a corner of a pallet by hand and I felt a pop in my back so I thought I had tweaked my back the day before at work.
I want to add the following with my response: When I experienced the PAIN to my face, ear and scalp I knew I needed to be seen by a Neurologist ASAP! I called MAINE MED. I explained to a Neurologist's nurse my symptoms. She said she will inform the Doctor. About 1 minute after, I was told to come to his office ASAP. I was informed by the Neurologist that I either had a BRAIN TUMOR or MS! This is in 1992. I spent 1 hour in the MRI machine without music and hearing the noise loudly and pondering how my life is changed forever no matter which disease I had. This was over 29 years ago!!!
Kept falling and couldn't get up on my own.
Weakening legs on my daily walks with my dog.
Also, to add to my recent post regarding my intial MS symptoms, they mirrored Annette Funicello's symptom's when she found out she had MS in 1987 (dizzy/lightheadedness and balance issues). Read her entry on Wikipedia! For me, it was kinda freaky! 🙂
