I just learned I have the JC virus, the internet did a number on me and just wanted to know some first hand experience for those with JCV and MS. So please, anyone who has any experience with this i would love to hear about it.

First, I'd say calm down and really investigate what being positive for the JC virus means. As has already been written and I concur, taking Tysabri may not be the best idea but glass half full comment, this just cuts your med options down from like 25 DMTs by 1. 24 DMTs is still many to choose from. Also, if your neuro didn't tell you about JVC and Tysabri, well that's good info for you too. Deep breath and remember, you're not the only one JVC positive and you WILL get through this minor hiccup

Thank you all, especially JimmyB, i am meeting with my neuro today to talk about switching meds. Hopefully i will get the rest of the answers i need and all will be well. This group is amazing and i dont know what took me so long to join. Again big thank you to everyone for your support.

The only thing we (those of us who have tested positive) is that we can’t take Tysabri. About 90% of the population tests positive and will never know unless you are special with MS and have to rule out certain DMTs because of it.

My fellow Olympian, how long ago were you diagnosed with MS? Are you going to UW in Seattle? I read so much about vegan diet and cutting sugar completely. Also exercise is important. Just live as healthy as possible and take care of yourself

I have it, that’s why I couldn’t take Tysabri
