Diagnosed with SPMS in late 2019. I walk with a “walking stick” and also a walker for back up
My Neuro wants me to actually start taking the Gabapentin he prescribed in beginning, but being anal about taking meds… I didn’t take it. The drowsiness goes away after your body gets used to it. I stopped gabapentin because of weight gain.

@A MyMSTeam Member, you stated that a UTI at your age is not common. I was 30 years old when I was diagnosed with MS. One of my first symptoms was bladder leakage. I was told that I was not emptying my bladder properly due to the muscles at the bladder no longer working like they should. The result was UTI's and a Neurogenic Bladder. My Urologist informed me if we could keep the UTI's to less than 2 or 3 a year it would be very OK. The good news is that I averaged 1 UTI every year and one-half. The fact that we have MS and the communication between our brain and the muscles at the bladder can be disrupted UTI's can occur.

I need gabapentin. I can tell when it is getting close to another dose. I experience horrible pain without it and some pain with it.

I used gabipetin and I was almost bed ridden because of that awful drug. I couldn’t drive for 2 years! Didn’t know why! Dizzy, I just wasn’t functioning anymore. On a wim I decided to have my dr get me off of it. It took a year! Withdrawals are horrible! Once I was off of the gabrpentin I was able to drive again and function on my own. Be weary!!

The side effects will diminish in time.
I've been taking Gabepentin for years. It helps with my neuromuscular pain. I've been trying marijuana - which helps but I can't see straight on it 🤪
