Yes I've had plenty of MS hugs, they are miserable. It's around my body, squeezing my ribs and back. It's lasted over a week before, just depends on how long it wants to hold me.

The MS hug is a common symptom experienced by many with multiple sclerosis. Here's how some members of MyMSTeam have described their experiences:

- Sensation: It often feels like a tight band or girdle around the torso, described vividly as being squeezed by a "boa constrictor" or having an "elephant on the chest."
- Pain Level: The pain can range from mild discomfort to severe pain. Some have likened it to the intense pressure of late labor contractions.
- Duration: The duration of an MS hug can vary significantly; it might last a few seconds or persist for hours.

People have shared that the discomfort can be quite alarming, sometimes even mistaken for a heart attack due to the intensity of the pressure and pain. If you're experiencing something similar, it's important to discuss it with your healthcare provider to manage the symptoms effectively and rule out other causes.

Mine were right around ribs exactly where my bra strap came but with and without a bra. It felt like a really really tight belt it would last from 30min to a few hours. I don’t get them any more touch wood. It felt unlike anything else like a bubble between my ribs and lungs all at the same time. The tightness but also an internal resistance to the squeeze. I had it for ten years and now it’s being peaceful or I’m in so much pain it’s signal doesn’t get through

Yes, I have them all the time, the pain and length of time varies. It’s caused by spasms of the intercostal muscles between your ribs, just another enjoyable experience of MS
