Neurologists will usually order an MRI with and without contrast. It's an insurance thing.
With contrast gives a clearer picture than without contrast. Here are my MRIs. I just now quickly put them together as fast as I could, but the app made the image look like junk. Anyway, the top is without contrast, and the bottom is with contrast taken 3 weeks later. There's a significant difference.
