I asked how everyone tracts their MS. Weather or not that you had MRI and I ran out of space on the question. How often should I have an MRI. I'm in a bad stage with multiple leasions. Do I have to do the MRI with contrast (Gadolinium) which I heard was so bad for you. There's a class action law suit going on Gadolinuim. It's been banned in the UK. They say that you only have to get the dye one time. It stays in your system. I've had the dye three times already. My Dr says it's safe if⦠read more
I know for the first few years after I was diagnosed it seemed I had an MRI like every 3 months, some times with contrast sometimes without. It took me awhile but I think I finally figured out why a was ordered so many MRIs. I think the medical professionals just wanted to see the effects my DMDs had on me. Once I found a DMD that worked for me, the MRIs stopped being so frequent (now every couple of years and the results are very consistent with the last MRI). I think the contrast is one way our medical folks can tell about new lesions. I always figured it would take a lot to make me more diseased so I never have worried about the contrast (but after reading what you say is happening in England)
I have had most MRIs with the dye. I am now on a once a yr MRI schedule. It was at one point 2x a yr, for only a yr. I just drink a lot of water afterwards and try to schedule a massage within the next couple days. I also try to go work out within the next couple days too, just to sweat. I feel this is what I can do to flush my system.
I just had the 3 hour mri. It was for Brain, Thoracic, and spine. We will see results at next appointment in a couple of months.
With contrast and without contrast. I cannot speak to b eing knowledgeable enough about contrast and it's possible side effects.
If Britain truly discontinued using it because of side effects on people with kidney problems known or unknown, I'd like to know.
I will ask my Neuro about that.
Oh, By the way- Covering my eyes with a cloth was a game changer for me today. I had to celebrate by getting my double shot espresso frappachino..πββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
@RaeMarie: My memory is fading due to ms. However, the tech suggested it. I believe the idea is to bring a sense of calm when eyes are covered.
I don't remember if it's any specific cloth.
Best,

I receive a MRI of the brain and the spine, both without and with contrast, every 3 or 4 years. This has taken place since the 1980's. They do follow my kidneys and I have not experienced any problems.
