I started taking 5000 IU of vitamin D several years ago. I read that research showed low vitamin D causes an increase in MS symptoms. My doctor tested my vitamin D levels and said they were too high, that I should cut back for a few months and then have it rechecked. Thoughts? Experiences? Thanks!๐๐ฅ
Hi Angela! We do have to go along with our Doctors, as each thing we put in our mouth works with or against something else. I typed up a list of all my prescriptions and over the counter supplements that I take/use and carry copies in my purse. My Neuro and I go over it every visit and he makes revisions on it as needed and gives it back to me so I can up date it on my computer and give a copy to my primary Doctor. It makes life so much easier. I hope all is well with you. I am hanging in there. God Bless you.
Listen to your doctor. My vitamin D was low for 10 years and I took 1000 mg supplements. I was diagnosed with RA last year, and the rheumatologist had me on a very high dosage weekly. My vitamin D levels shot up after a few months, and she took me off. I don't take any now, and my vitamin D blood levels are currently in the normal range.
I take D3 to improve calcium effects per Dr advice
When diagnosed in 2008 by vitamin d level was four. It was a struggle getting it up to 40. Now I take 3,000 units a day and I hoover around 45. Still a little on the low side. So maybe adjust your vitamin supplement down a little bit.
always check with your PCP about any vitamins..
