Hi, I also have lower back and hip pain. It gets worse when I'm laying down for longer than a half hour and then I have to switch positions. It wakes me up at night. I get really bad hip pain too when I've been sitting with my legs up. It also hurts my tailbone when I'm sitting. I read that where your lesions are, that's where the pain is radiating from ,and mine are really low on my spine. My butt hurts too all the time lol

Yes, back and hip pain are common challenges for people with MS. Changes in walking patterns (gait) due to MS can lead to musculoskeletal pain, particularly in the back and hips. Many MyMSTeam members have shared similar experiences. One member described having excruciating neuropathic pain in their right hip that radiates down their leg, while others notice their pain and stiffness are worse in the morning but improve after moving around for a few hours. The good news is there are ways to manage this type of pain. Working with a physical or occupational therapist can be helpful. They can recommend specific exercises and stretches to help ease symptoms. Other helpful strategies include modifying your home environment, wearing appropriate footwear, and using assistive devices when needed. Your neurologist can provide a referral for these services to help you maintain independence and reduce pain.

I do but I believe it's from 2 herniated discs in my spine and a pinched nerve in my neck.

As I am no longer able to walk, thank you MS, I find that while I am sitting down I actually 'lift' my left butt cheek without realizing it and that causes a pain in my right check, upper right thigh and down to the top of my right foot.
