Hello @A MyMSTeam Member. Sorry you are going through this. When I went through the menopause I too worked full time and was bringing up my children. I had various symptoms, including skin sensitivity, which were exacerbated by menopause symptoms. I got so tired and ended up relapsing, so please try and do what you can to ease off a little. I used cold compresses in my skin to soothe the sensitivity. When the skin turned icy cold I used warm wheat bags - I kept some at work and microwaved when needed. During the relapse, and afterwards, I took Gabapentin - I didn’t want to but it actually gave me some relief from sensitive and burning skin. I wore soft cotton, seamless gloves on my hands so that I could touch what I needed to. It’s challenging but you can get through it. The suggestions above from MyMSTeam are helpful so give them a try. I am now 64 and still have the skin sensitivity and insomnia, but I have various strategies which help - it’s trial and error to find what helps you. I have acupuncture now and that has reduced the sensitivity. Hope you can find some relief, please try to reduce your stress. Have you got anyone you can ask for help? Take care, I’ve added you to my team, happy to chat any time 🤗
Going through menopause with MS can be incredibly challenging, especially with the overlapping symptoms you're experiencing. The hot flashes and night sweats from menopause can temporarily worsen MS symptoms, particularly affecting balance, pain sensitivity, and fatigue. I was blessed to have gone through menopause long before my MS diagnosis and had no problems with that. But I do have trouble sleeping, getting cool is an all day battle, the sensitive skin happens more often than I would like. I just take Tylenol.
Can't answer your pain question but when I went through menopause my doc had me take a vitamin E pill in the morning and at night. It didn't take the hot completely away but diminished it enough so that I was more comfortable. I have recommended this to other women and some it helped. But like everything what works for some may not work for others. I hope this helps you.
I really don't have option to reduce my work load trying to buy a house at night I'm so hot and in pain I don't even get 8 hours of sleep at the most 4
