Research shows there is a clear relationship between MS and several mental health conditions. Depression and anxiety are particularly common in people with MS, and studies have shown an increased risk of bipolar disorder as well. These conditions can be challenging to diagnose because some symptoms overlap with MS itself, like fatigue and concentration problems. The connection between MS and mental health is complex and multifaceted. While some mental health conditions may be directly related to MS's effects on the brain, others can develop independently or be influenced by life experiences. The best approach is typically working with both an MS neurologist and mental health professionals like therapists to develop a comprehensive treatment plan. Unfortunately, mental health conditions often go underrecognized and undertreated in people with MS. It's important to be open with your healthcare team about all your symptoms so they can provide appropriate care and support for both your MS and mental health needs.

Yes that's what it's called for me. I really need to get my doctors to write down my diagnoses. They almost seem afraid to tell me what I have. Like, rhat, it'll trigger me or something. And idk maybe it will. But I'm 38 and need to know wtf is medically or psychologically wrong with me! Lol🤪
