I have SPMS, having been diagnosed 33 years ago. Mercifully, I'm in the 10% who have never experienced fatigue (OR pain, heat sensitivity, visual disturbances, brain fog or swallowing difficulties), all of which MyMSTeam tells me are common MS symptoms. I AM in a wheelchair, but that is only somewhat debilitating for me, because I've been fully retired since 2010.

Has anyone else experienced fatigue after eating a large meal?

Yes, experiencing a wave of fatigue after eating is something many people with MS can relate to. Fatigue is one of the most common MS symptoms, affecting up to 90 percent of people with the condition.

When you eat a large meal, your body directs energy toward digestion, which can make existing MS fatigue feel more intense. This can be especially noticeable after bigger meals that require more digestive effort.

Some strategies that might help include:

* Eating smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day instead of large ones
* Staying well-hydrated, as dehydration can worsen fatigue
* Following a nutritious diet that avoids heavily processed foods and sugar
* Planning rest time after meals when possible

If this pattern continues or worsens, it's worth discussing with your healthcare provider. They can help determine if medication adjustments or other interventions might help manage your fatigue better.

A MyMSTeam member shared a similar experience, noting how they adjusted their eating patterns to help manage energy levels throughout the day.
