Hello @A MyMSTeam Member 👋 well personally I would have to explain to those who want me to do this that it’s impossible for me. We are all different in how we’d approach this I guess, but I am at a point now where I have to prioritise who/what I use my energy on! If my immediate family asked me to host in this way because they wanted to be with me, I would say yes (although they would not ask me to host as they know how much it takes out of me - they would host and invite me to the bits I would enjoy and manage). Anyone else I would think long and hard and most likely say no and explain why I am unable to take on such a task. If this is an event that you really want to host, with people you really want to entertain, then plan for breaks for yourself and make sure that guests know they will have to help. If you feel totally overwhelmed by the idea and it’s not a priority for you, then say no and don’t feel guilty! Sending hugs 💜
Carve out "you time" while having people at your home. It is a must. Go to your room, get in to bed, read, watch the tele..lounge in a bath!
I very seldom go to parties. The biggest one I go to isn't really a party but Thanksgiving meal. I can't leave because it's at our house but I can go in the bedroom and shut the door if I need to. After everyone leaves it takes me a day or two to recover. I do as little as possible. My husband can take care of himself if I need to rest.
I totally agree with you - always make yourself priority #1
I do take a medication for fatigue. This is not fatigue in that ways. It’s a brain drain. Trying to stay engaged in conversations and dealing with all the noise from multiple conversations and things going on. It’s a lot to process. I have excused myself at other family members houses to chill on a bed, but that’s just one day. This will be multiple days. I guess I’ll just have to do that, cross my fingers, and hope for the best.
Thank you for the important.❤️
