Having MS I’ve definitely woken up with unexplainable pains. I’ve even woke up in the past without being able to move my leg. I’ve had this awful pain on the left side of my back for a couple of weeks now. I assumed I slept odd one night and it will “work itself out” but it won’t go away and pretty much smiles at whatever I throw at it (Advil, heating pads), I’m going to see if Aleeve will do anything but I feel if I slept odd it would have gone away by now, not lingering for 2 weeks! I sleep on my right side and have had some shoulder pain and back pain that has lingered loner than expected. Depends on deep you sleep and if the MS allows you to switch positions if your body isn't comfortable.
I get a pain on my lower left back quite often. My blood tests show my kidneys are working fine. When I get that pain and it doesn't want to go away, I stop taking Tylenol as much as possible. Sometimes that helps me, sometimes not.
My DDD, degenerative disc disease when it first showed up 5.8 years ago. It hurt more on onside and was very deep. It took so long for any doctor to tell me it was DDD. I spent so much time, money, different doctors, treatments, including x-ray guided injections, Chiro, nerve ablation,..it just goes on and on , I kept asking for an MRI or X-ray, and I was always told we already have one, due to MS. No one said anything about DDD to me with years of appointments. Then saw an anesthesiologist who finally told me I have it. So disheartening! I wish you well. @A MyMSTeam Member!
I already suffer from chronic back pain before I knew about the Ms. However, I've noticed that my back pain now is more unrelenting and constant. I get this burning pain in both the left and right side of my lower back. Thought that it may be my spine stimulator battery but I'm not sure. This is the least of my problems so I'll deal with it.
Usually, when I have back pain it's from not drinking all my water that I was supposed to drink the day before. So, kinda Self inflicted.
