I had my L5 S1 Lumbar fusion done beginning of December 2017 3 weeks later January 1 2018 diagnosed with Ms . But I know now I had long before i got diagnosed. I asked for that surgery because I wasn’t getting any younger. I went through withdrawals for 5 days from pain meds and finished 3 days before surgery. Withdrawals took me to places I didn’t want to no about in the end our lord Jesus Christ was still with me and I gave myself back to our lord and ask him to control my walk and all that I do. Now a days I always walk with our lord and do my best to always listen.

I was afraid the intrusion to my body would cause an exacerbation that I was in the hospital so I thought they’ll take care of it, but I was very pleased to know that the shock to my body was OK. Good luck with your surgery.

I had a full hysterectomy with zero issues. I also go under anesthesia every year for EGD. I was very nervous the first time but, after that, I welcome the nap, and that is how I go into it now (I’m getting ready for the best nap!) because stressing about it a lot of times will change how your body reacts to and wakes up as well. Just tell yourself that you are getting the best nap ever (Because you are). You’ll thank me later.

I had my gallbladder removed in 2020, 10 years after I was diagnosed. One problem I had, and have with all surgeries, is that my leg goes into a painful spasm when I'm in recovery. They won't give you muscle relaxers in recovery. So I just had to wait until I returned to my room. The other problem I had, and another non-MS friend reported it as well after gallbladder surgery, we couldn't pee. Be sure to ask about this if you don't before they release you to go home. Otherwise, there weren't many problems. The pain level after seemed to be managed by the drugs they gave me. And I was able to get off of them easily.
