.....do they for you
I went to a local MS meeting yesterday, 'sacrificing' 2 hours of British sunshine..... First, anyone trying to do something for the MS community are great people, so I will 'never', maybe it's safer to say 'not on this occasion' as I do express my opinion on a regular basis without doing 'f all' myself (for a good reason btw!)..., so I will never criticise those people if I can..... This is the only forum that I have found that individuals for the most part are not whiners. For the most part MS groups are about collecting enough money off of my hardships 2 pay administration. Sometimes very well. I cannot stand whiners and often that is what I find when I get involved with MS societies. Have a good day Josephus.
I do not like these types of gatherings at all. From my experience (one meeting early after diagnosis and the next several years later when I thought I should try again) the regulars form cliques and I found myself ignored on both occasions. I should have tried harder, but I am rather shy in new social situations.
@A MyMSTeam Member, ignoring your daughter was unforgivable, you would think a group of people either MS would have had at least one person who could say hello to her. I don’t get people sometimes.
This place is the only one I have found where I feel included, so I will stick to this, especially as I can keep on tapping AND sit in the precious British sunshine.
I agree with you!! @A MyMSTeam Member I think the “victims” 😂 were very lucky to have you there yesterday.
I went alot whei I was first diagnosed, I then went onto speak at many on multiple different topics and became a speaker for the NMSS. TBH since going SPMS I haven't, as more focused om self care.
@A MyMSTeam Member: I want to commend you for at least trying the group dynamic.
Perhaps there is another one more fitting for you? Idk 🤷♂️
In settings like that *time is either working for you or against you. It seemed like what you attended had potential but lacked some structure.
I felt what you were saying in the communication.
I led some Christian 12 Step groups over the years where the aim was hopefully to keep it to 6 people.
There was another group leader as well who’d take the other ???#
My point is that there is a way to interrupt people, only one person speaks at a time, some don’t like to speak but just listen, etc.
Anyways, good for you to at least try it! Some people like this site because the level of participation is voluntary.
The level of depth is up to the person. Some find Zoom as a good medium, etc.
Good day!
