I have been receiving Ocrevus and now Ocrevus Zunovo, I know these aren’t intended to make me feel any better but they are to slow down the damage to the myelin
My neurologist has now said that since I have not had any remission from the deterioration of my body. A year ago I was able to walk without any assistance and now if I don’t furniture to hold on to I have to use my walker
I cannot drive anymore so I only leave my home for doctors appointments. My eyes and hands don’t work well… read more

My neurologist has told me that my diagnosis being Tumefactive MS is a more rapid deterioration than other types.
I will definitely have a conversation with him when I see him in October.
Thank you 🧡

What you're going through sounds incredibly hard, and it makes complete sense that you're searching for answers and looking at every possible option. The changes you've described over just one year — losing the ability to walk unassisted, drive, and coordinate your eyes and hands — are significant, and your frustration and urgency are completely valid.

On the topic of treatments beyond DMTs, there are a few things worth knowing. Regarding stem cell therapy, it is being researched for MS and some people have pursued it. However, it's important to know:

- It is not yet a standard, widely approved treatment for MS
- Results vary significantly from person to person
- It carries real risks, and not all clinics offering it are reputable
- A conversation with your neurologist specifically about this is strongly recommended before considering it

Regarding your current treatment, since you've progressed while on Ocrevus/Ocrevus Zunovo, this is a critical signal to discuss with your neurologist. There are other DMTs available that work differently, and switching may be worth exploring.

There is also genuinely exciting research happening in remyelination therapy — treatments aimed at actually repairing myelin damage rather than just slowing it. Researchers believe these could become available within the next decade. The most important step right now is having a very direct conversation with your neurologist about why progression has continued and what alternatives exist. If you feel unheard, seeking a second opinion from another MS specialist is completely reasonable and often helpful.
