We allowed her (our doggie Luca) to "witness" and smell him (Maxi-poo) after he passed to Rainbow Bridge. She hardly eats...is this mourning? Or Did she guzzle thinking he would come over and eat her kibble? Now that there is no competition...

No pets, I definitely see the benefits of animals but no thanks lol I got one child and that’s enough.
@A MyMSTeam Member so sorry for you loss 🫂 pets are family and they definitely mourn when one is gone. I had two rescue kittens (brothers) who lived with us for 18 years. When the first one (Bailey, the tabby) was lost his brother (Titch, the black one) was so sad. He searched all their favourite spots repeatedly, ate little and just lost his spark for a while. I kept Bailey’s ashes until we lost Titch, then mixed them up and buried them in my garden where the sweet peas bloom. Take care of your Luca who for sure will be missing Maxi Poo.
Yes , I think Luca is mourning Maxi- poo . He must miss his friend 😔 It will get better as time passes . Have you considered getting another dog ? Not as a replacement but an addition to your family.
Of course we wanted to understand our cockapoodle as much as we could, so we bought a little booklet called "Doggie Language"..... (as you do...).
If a dog looks away from her bowl, it might be that she's confused or feels 'uneasy' because 'things' are suddenly different...
If a dog 'freezes' or 'plants down', with visual signs like a stiff tail for example, she might feel concern, has anxiety and/or fear...
If a dog cowers or hides, could mean that she's either very scared and/or sad...
Our own Daisy is around 13 years of age, and is struggling because her diabetes has made her blind, and the present heatwave (yesterday was apparently the hottest day on record -in May- here in the UK!) does not help!
Still, as long as she waggles her tail when she's about to eat, even if it is 'diabetic dog food', we're all happy! (and she even 'accepts' the necessary injection while eating...).
Talking about the present heatwave...... I only had ONE very cold bottle of beer......, a 50% reduction in comparison to the day before......, whereby I made sure that any equipment for supporting a quick movement(s) to the nearby toilet was available.....
To all MSers who are struggling with very negative thoughts at the moment..... My constant rambling 'on paper' keeps me going, my needy dog keeps me going, my wife and children keep me going, especially because I need to protect my now 28 year old vulnerable daughter for as long as I can, even if it's only by using the 'raw loudness' of my own voice'....
I have been in that 'black hole' myself and I didn't like it! You're absolutely right!, I have no idea of the difficult situation you are in at the moment, how can I??
BUT...., I just let 'the world' know I exist, in whatever way, and in spite of all the BS that has come over me and my family!! Fuck them!!
'BFF', you said it exactly the way you felt it, good for you! And I know there are blabla idiots like me on here....., it keeps me going! That book I keep on rambling on about? I'll let you know when I have finally finished it, be sure that 'I will say/ have said it as it is' too.........., 'stuff the ignorants'!! Where is that bloody medication of mine???
It's hot, isn't it?.............
They’re a part of our family, sorry for your loss.
