Members rallied around someone preparing for their first Ocrevus infusion for SPMS, offering warm reassurance and practical tips to ease any worries. Several members shared that the process starts with two half-dose infusions given months apart, followed by full doses every six months, and that pre-medications like steroids and Benadryl help reduce side effects like itching or fatigue. A recurring theme was that Ocrevus has helped many members keep their MS stable for years, and bringing snacks, drinks, and entertainment makes the long infusion session much more comfortable.

The infusions are a non event , nothing to stress over , just make sure you bring stuff to entertain yourself with , it is a boring 6 hours or so , ie book, laptop something

Ocrevus is one of the MOST POPULAR "Disease Modifying Treatments" (DMT drugs) out there. It's popular because it works!

Ocrevus basically pioneered the "kill the B-cells" of the body's immune system strategy. This has proven to be so successful that several other drugs have copied that "kill the B-cells" strategy (pills and injections). That strategy is effective in stopping new MS attacks.

Ocrevus is easy to take. You do 2 "1/2 dose" infusions to start, just to see if you have any side effects (most have no problems).

Then after that you just do an infusion every 6 months -- a piece of cake! Within 2-3 (or so) days of the infusion, Ocrevus wipes out something like 90%+ of your body's B-cells of your immune/white blood cell system. This stops MS attacks but doesn't open you up to cancers or other bad things.

Then your body spends the next 6 months rebuilding your B-cells, and you have another infusion.

Ocrevus *will* make you more susceptible to colds and flus though! (COVID-19 too.) So be aware of that and try to avoid that.
