I can't imagine so but Nicotine is a poison so don't think it's on any health plans

It sounds like the question is: "Does chewing Nicorette gum cause flare-ups with MS?"

Nicotine, including from nicotine gum like Nicorette, has been shown to compromise the blood-brain barrier, which is a concern for people with MS. This means it could potentially affect MS symptoms or disease activity.

It's always best to talk to your neurologist or MS specialist before using any nicotine-replacement products. They can help weigh the risks and benefits based on your specific situation.

If quitting smoking is the goal, here are some approaches others have tried:

- Gradually reducing cigarette intake
- Using nicotine patches
- Chewing cinnamon sticks or regular gum as a substitute
- Prescription smoking-cessation medications (though these also carry side effect risks)

A MyMSTeam member shared that weaning down to zero-nicotine cartridges gradually worked well for them — nearly three years smoke-free!
