Can lion's mane or other mushroom-based supplements help with MS-related brain fog?

Lion's mane mushrooms contain bioactive compounds that may support the central nervous system, and some small studies suggest possible benefits for memory and mood. However, most research has been done in animals, and no studies have specifically proven these effects for people with MS. Some MyMSTeam members do use lion's mane and find it easy to incorporate into their routine:

- One MyMSTeam member mixes lion's mane powder into yogurt, noting it has no flavor
- Another adds it to a morning smoothie

These are personal experiences though, and results can vary from person to person. It's really important to talk to your neurologist before adding any supplement, including lion's mane, to your routine. Some supplements can interact with MS medications or treatments.

While waiting to speak with your doctor, there are other evidence-supported ways to manage brain fog, such as:

- Regular light exercise (even just 15 minutes)
- Staying hydrated and keeping cool
- Getting enough rest and managing stress
- Using calendars, alarms, and reminders
- Trying something mentally stimulating, like learning a new language
