I ordered some Glp-1 patches, I am the heaviest I've ever been. I went from 150 to about 180. I'm just trying to figure out why it is so difficult to lose weight, has anyone else tried this? Any advice would be appreciated.

Weight gain with MS is incredibly common, and you are definitely not alone in this struggle. A MyMSTeam member shared, "I keep gaining weight since my MS symptoms have increased and my activity has decreased." Another said, "I'm trying to lose weight, but I'm on steroids, so it makes it twice as difficult."

Weight gain with MS is incredibly common, and you are definitely not alone in this struggle. A MyMSTeam member shared, "I keep gaining weight since my MS symptoms have increased and my activity has decreased." There are several reasons why weight management is harder with MS:

- Limited mobility — fatigue and spasticity make exercise difficult
- Emotional eating — stress, anxiety, and depression can lead to comfort eating
- Medications — steroids used during relapses are a well-known contributor to weight gain Regarding GLP-1 medications, some people with MS have used them for weight loss. However, MS specialists caution that they work best as part of a broader lifestyle approach — not as a standalone solution. Avoiding dramatic weight swings (losing and regaining repeatedly) is also important for overall health.

A few practical tips that have helped others:

- Diet awareness — being mindful of what you eat is key
- Gentle movement — even small amounts of activity help
- Healthy fats and nutrient-dense snacks — nuts, avocado oils, smoothies
- Talking to a dietitian — they can create a plan suited to your specific needs

It's really worth looping in your doctor before starting GLP-1 patches to make sure they're safe alongside any current MS treatments.

I never heard of gaining weight from ms unless it’s from steroids. I have personally experienced, and heard from others that they lose their appetite due to ms. Have you gained weight without a cause ? Have you changed your diet , exercising less, menopausal?
