I quit my most recent job because it was just too much. Now I want to start working again, a different position that is less stressful and less demanding .
Anyway, I had an interview yesterday and the interviewer asked me why I left my last job and I said a personal medical reason. Her reply was, is it resolved now and I said yes.
I felt nervous to say that I have MS because I am worried they won’t hire me. I know that would be illegal, but there would be no way for me to prove it . They… read more

When I was diagnosed with relapsing remitting MS my father told me not to say anything. We called it neurotis
At a later date I let my workplace know. Mostly because of heat intolerance . To be honest, if I were to do it again I would not let them know. I was trusting and thought they would understand the fatigue and heat Intolerance They understood nothing. When I lost vision in one eye no one. Cared
Mind you this was 1973. I hope people are more understanding but what I have learned is that unless you are in a cast, use a walker or a scooter everyone thinks you are fine. I fractured a shoulder. Wore a sling and got more sympathy and concern then I ever did when I had MS Exaccerbations.
All this being said, I was a New York State teacher. And had tenure. So I was safe. Don’t know what would have happened if I didn’t have that kind of job security.
Overall. My advice is do t be too trusting.. keep the info to yourself

It's not but it is like starting a new relationship without full-disclosure, and coul end badly/
No! I would not! most employers are not going to be interested in doing things to help you. They’re interest is going to be in protecting themselves in every possible way. doesn’t usually end well for us.
Tiffany,
I have been meaning to respond to this question. I work for 15 years after I was diagnosed and did not say anything to anybody. The last year and a half became extremely difficult for me and I believe my boss would be coming suspicious.
Then covid started and I was able to work one more year from home but then I put in for my disability immediately after. I worked in the automotive industry Tiffany and it was far too much of a risk to say anything. Just consider the type of Industry you're in when you're ready to make that decision of whether to say something or not.
I think it's totally okay to say something and just be honest with yourself too. Things are rapidly changing as far as worker accommodations. 🌞👍
Nick, that's not being negative, it's just the blimming truth! I still feel that anger, a lot of it...., when thinking about my last working years..... I became a carer, this after 'sitting behind a desk' (bookkeeping etc), being monitored '24/7', was no longer an option for me.
First I started assisting 2 very disabled man in their own home in the early years of my new 'chosen' occupation, then moving on to a house where I assisted 3 very disabled young men, as best as I could, in their own home for several years.
My MS started to become more and more of a hinder, especially physically, so I also had to throw in the towel in that place after a few years, also realising that my clients were not particularly benefiting from my (limited) care giving anymore (although I think I was a good listener, but when it came to cooking a proper meal for them, or 'going out' etc....., no medals........).
My last job, still as a carer, was at huge centre for young disabled people, where I 'managed' to work for half a year, and was then 'forced out', in a disguised way.....
A disabled daughter at home, increasing fatigue and physical disability, my wife whose health was also constantly 'tested' .............., the bomb was bursting and I finally gave up......
The ignorance of certain people, the 'two faced-ness', being treated like an idiot, often also because I was 'a foreigner'...., all that in combination with the situation at home...................👿........, enough was enough!!
You're absolutely right Nick, 'they' couldn't care less! Still, YOU worked for a company for more than 15 years, and they still treat you like sh*t!?....., what a 'humanistic disgrace'!
Take care.
