Am completely stuck on weather or not I should move up from 40 to 60 mg of cymbalta and cannot make peace with the fact that others weighing more than myself are on 40. And my brain is so fogged up that I cannot reach any rationality. Which idk maybe that means I do need 60 mg. I can’t even reach full sentences. Not sure if this is even the right format for what I need to know or hear. I keep coming back to the thought that my mental and emotional and even physical baselines are all super low… read more

First of all — you are absolutely not "extra." What you're describing is incredibly common with MS, and the brain fog making a decision feel impossible is so real and so valid.

Here's something important to hold onto: medication dosing is not about body weight or age. It's about what your brain and nervous system need. MS can affect how the brain processes everything, including how it responds to medication. A MyMSTeam member once described brain fog as feeling like being drugged — unable to function properly or think clearly. That's exactly the kind of state that makes decisions like this feel mountainous.

The fact that you can clearly notice Cymbalta is working better than before is actually really valuable information for your doctor. Here's a gentle reframe: you don't have to make this decision alone. That's literally what your neurologist or prescribing doctor is there for. Consider sharing exactly what you wrote here — the fog, the low baselines, the emotional and physical struggle. Let them help carry this one.

You advocating for yourself, even through the fog, is everything. 💙

Hello @A MyMSTeam Member, I take 60mg. You can always reduce again if it causes side effects. Take care 🤗💜
