@A MyMSTeam Member I know a lot of people use the spoon idea. I just couldn't make it work for me and trying to explain to my family didn't work either. What worked was saying I was like a gas tank with a hole halfway up. Overnight, I t could never be refueled fully. Every time I do something I use the fuel. We all have to find what works for the people we are trying to explain it to, even if it's just ourselves.

When I have to explain my MS to friends and family, I use a basic comparison. When I get up in the morning, I have 10 spoons. Every time you do something that can affect your energy, you lose a spoon. When you finish using all your spoons you are done for the day. If you use up your spoons before the end of the day, are done for the day. If you have something you want to do in the afternoon, you don’t want to use up your spoons early in the day. I may just say I can't take the heat, or cold and I get tired easy. If they don't understand that, I can't help them. You sound like a much nicer person than I am, because I don't really care if they understand or not. The people important to me understand.

@A MyMSTeam Member I don't have a problem explaining to the people I know. Most understand but I agree with you, the difficulty comes from those listening that don't even try to understand.
