I am very sensitive to medication. In the past I took a Valium beforehand and then had a reaction to the med so I decided going forward not to take anything. The most recent was the brain, cervical, orbit, and throracic MRI, I had done all together and I took no meds at all. I did ok until the last 20 minutes and started to feel claustrophobic and panicked. I know that my upcoming one is only the brain w/ and w/o contrast so it won’t be as long as the previous one . I don't like it, but I get through it by the techs talking to me and telling me the length of time between scans. Then I count.....eg. 2 min , I count to 120. LOL but it works for me
I have had ms for 35 years. I remember when they used to take hours. I have fallen asleep during my MRI before. I just remove my jewelry beforehand, lay back , listen to music and keep still. I’m not one to fret over something that has to happen. 💛
I ask them to play some Metallica or even Iron Maiden. Sometimes I’ll have classical music and just do some relaxing breaths. I also think of all our vacation memories to San Diego at the beach and ocean. It helps a lot.
ad many, many MRIs. Some hospitals allow you to bring in a CD to play your favorite music while having the test. Some don't allow that but do play the music for you and usually have a good selection of music to choose from. Those who say it gets easier over time are correct - it really does. I also pray to Jesus while I am having the test done. Before the test I will pray and ask Him for His peace and that I may relax and think of my life with His help. Between doing this and listening to music I usually get through it ok. The one thing I found, though, is that if you are heat intolerant doing this test can have a down side. Several times ago the tech told me to stop moving but I informed her I hadn't moved at all. Then she said that it must have been the heat from the table and I was probably totally unaware of it but my body was reacting to it. I wish you the best and pray that you will be able to relax enough to feel peace while having the test. God bless. ( ͡• ͜ʖ ͡• )
