I want to take this dang back brace off and BURN IT. Ive been wearing it almost 5 months. I hope this last compression fracture is healing correctly finally! Don't worry I know this isnt Alaska where I COULD burn it in a burn barrel- outside of course 😎 😜 Here in Alabama, I'd probably get arrested 😀!!

Back braces are something some people with MS do explore for back pain and core support, especially when weak core muscles make it hard to sit or stand upright. While there isn't a one-size-fits-all answer, they can offer some stability and relief for certain people.

That said, it's worth knowing there are several approaches that may help with back pain and core support in MS:

- Physical therapy — A physical therapist can tailor exercises specifically for your back and core, and advise on correct sitting posture
- Posture support tools — Adjusted armrests, higher backrests, or supportive seating can help if core weakness is an issue
- Gentle movement — Yoga or chair yoga can help strengthen core muscles over time
- Pelvic floor therapy — This can also support the muscles around the lower back

A back brace might provide short-term relief, but it's worth checking with a healthcare provider or physical therapist first. Over-relying on a brace without strengthening the underlying muscles could sometimes make core weakness worse over time.

Bringing this up with your neurologist or a physical therapist would be a great next step — they can help figure out whether a brace makes sense alongside other treatments.

I wear one to do work outside but that's it. I've been warned about wearing it full time because it could lead to core weakness

I have had to wear a full back brace for four months. Because I got my first compression spinal fracture L-3 June 4. I ended up with 4 compression fractures by Sept 13. Due to severe osteoporosis, I have delayed healing, so I am still having to wear a full back brace. It holds my core together while I heal. I am finally healing Due to a new medication. I get 2 monthly shots at the cancer center infusion clinic, for 12 whole months. It has side affects. I finally see an end in sight and am healing . Praise God. @A MyMSTeam Member. I have to wear the brace 4 more weeks .
