Dear MS
You have tried to ruin my body, my brain and my life. You have been an uninvited and unwelcome guest! I am tired of you making my life miserable! I hope that you leave for good, for me and my friends. We all hate you and the nasty disease that you are! I have nothing good to say to you or about you. You've caused invisible pain and suffering, and destroyed so many relationships with your problems. You have gotten on my nerves in so many ways including trying to destroy my nerves. Good… read more

Members poured their hearts into goodbye letters to MS, expressing grief, defiance, and even unexpected gratitude in response to the prompt. Several members shared powerful personal losses caused by MS, including careers, mobility, and independence, while still declaring they refused to let the disease win, with one member writing a moving poem about reclaiming her identity after 12 years. A deeply touching moment came from an 86-year-old member in her final months, who shared that choosing how we react to hardship, even MS, can lead to a life of grace and peace.

Good-ducking-bye MS! You've been nothing but a REAL pain in the a$$! I've had to quit my nursing degree because of you! I had to quit my job because of you! I have had to argue with the government just to get PIP! I have had to buy different mobility aids because of you! I'm having to keep an eye out for dropped kerbs and unsafe routes because of you! Even having to simply care for my daughter is difficult because of you! I'm having to make sure I take all of my meds, and get a good night's sleep so I don't have a seizure because of you! I'm hoping a cure can be found, just so I can get rid of you! Jog on, you heartless piece of sh!t! You've caused so much headache and heartbreak for people suffering because of you!

(Been wanting to actually say this for a long time. I can't even bring myself to say it to my husband!)

I love your words you have expressed @BrendaStimnett.

I think I would say: To the illness I never invited into my life.
Dear MS,
If I could say one last thing to you, I think I would start by telling you that I never wanted you here.
You came into my life without permission, without warning, and without asking what I had already survived. You didn't know my story, my dreams, my fears, or how much I had already fought to make it through this world. And yet, you made yourself at home in a body that was already mine, changing things I once took for granted and making me question a future I had always imagined for myself. I written more, but its like book again heh.

I would tell MS that I am too stubborn and competitive to let it win, so don’t bother trying. Go away , and stay away forever . I would add a few other words but I am a lady so I won’t say it here 😂

I am in the last 3 months of my life. I am aged 86 and now bedridden. I feel deep peace. I have had MS since age 20. Yes, it has robbed me of the achievements I could have had, because of exhaustion and relapses But my deep peace comes from not letting myself dwell on what I haven't got, Viktor Frankl , an Auswich survivor said, "Everything can be taken from a man except one thing: his freedom to choose how he reacts to life". I think of this daily and if I catch myself thinking negative thoughts, deliberately switch away. This has worked for me. The last gift I can leave my children and grandkids is that death is not to be feared. And that even if y ou are dealt a hand like MS, it is possible to live a life of grace. My granddaughter has a worsé autoimmune disease to live with and it humbles me to watch her cope..

My words will not help those of you coping with some of the crueler experiences that MS throws at you.. But trying not to dwell on the negative really doés help. With love, Jane

I will have MS to my very end, and will have words for my family, not MS...
