That's a great question! Age alone doesn't automatically disqualify someone from taking Ponvory, but there are important factors your neurologist will carefully evaluate before prescribing it — especially for older adults.

Before starting Ponvory, your doctor will likely run several tests to make sure it's safe for you, including:

- A heart test (ECG)
- Blood tests, including white blood cell counts
- Liver function tests
- A baseline eye exam
- A skin exam
- Chickenpox antibody testing There are also some conditions that would mean Ponvory should NOT be taken, such as:

- A recent heart attack, stroke, or certain types of heart failure in the last six months
- Certain types of irregular heartbeat (unless you have a pacemaker)

As we get older, some of these conditions become more common, so it's especially important to have an open and thorough conversation with your neurologist about your full medical history before starting Ponvory. The good news is that Ponvory has shown real benefits for relapsing MS — reducing relapses by about 30.5% and lowering new brain lesions on MRI. Many people find the once-daily tablet convenient compared to injections or infusions.

Your neurologist is the best person to weigh the benefits against any risks specific to your health history and age. Don't hesitate to bring a list of all your current medications and conditions to that conversation!
