Anyone out there taking Tecfidera? I was fine on 1 wk 120mg twice a day and not bad for 1st week of 240mg twice a day but now my GERD has kicked up to full gear and I wake up every night with acid burning in my throat that nothing will relieve! Have also gone from slight nausea to nausea with stomach pain on and off. Any suggestions?
I just started my second month on Tecfidera. Almost all of the side effects for me have dissipated. I did have the stomach issues but by eating something with a little fat content, over time the symptoms lessened.I use fish oil capsules and started taking them a few minutes b4 the tecfidera, I think that may help coat my stomach as well. I just started doing that and now I don't even have to eat something before Tecfidera usually. I would still recommend eating something if your having problems.
I hope this helps.Good luck, Feel better.
I had the same problem with Tecfidera. I had the severe nausea, vomiting & diarrhea. I was already on Prevacid. I talked with my neurologist who had to only take 1- 240mg per day for a week and then go back on taking 2 with a fatty meal. So far I am doing pretty well with it. The 1st several weeks after starting the drug was not pleasant. But it did get better. But I have read that some people just can't tolerate tecfidera. Hope things get better for you.
I've been on Tecfidera since it came out at the end of March. I have no complaints other than it caused me to have some serious bad breath. I brush 3 times a day instead of twice, and I have gum with me at all times. I take 240mg twice daily, and zero serious side effects.
@DrakeSansone thanks you
OK, folks, if you want Tecfidera to work, and minimize your "side effects" I would suggest you clean up your eating habits. Stacking one drug on top of another does nothing for the effectiveness of the drug, and does more harm to your body in the long run. Sausage McMuffin? Seriously? I'm not suggesting that a cheat once in a while will destroy you, but excess protein will cause more harm than good. We have MS, folks. Do some research, and discover the alternatives to fast food, and excess. That will go further towards helping you cope than all the rest. So it's not "convenient". So what? What's your life worth?
