I am currently on Copaxone but am running out of injection sights as I'm having permanent dimpling and hardening. It also just emotionally gets me down, I feel like I could really use a break from it for a while. And I'm planning on being very strict with my [[treatment:diet:537267e708c929d4d[[phone:7000513]], 100:]]% following the anti inflammatory diet suggested from Dr.Swank and exercising regularly.

Has anyone else solely relied on diet & exercise as their form of treatment?

Pattyj, ditto!!

I wasn't on a med for 10 yrs and felt great, only to end up using a cane and now a walker. I can only walk a very short distance each day and have lost the ability to drive.

I wish you the best, but if I had it to do over again I would have been on a med. It may not have worked for me - or worse, but I would have tried. MS can destroy your life; I would hunt down the best neuro I could find and take his/her advice.

Take care!

KrisW, have you ever talked to anyone about your 'lesion load' compared to others at different stages? I have often asked my neurologist if I have a lot or a little, large or small--just to try to get some information to see how I add up for last of a better word. I was always told it just depends on where they are and no real answer to my question. I understand "it depends" but would love to know if there is something written or known that I don't know to compare. I think it would help me put something concrete to it. I think it is just my analytical side needing something to measure in a disease that answers almost all questions with 'it depends'.

I did the Swank diet and exercise for years and felt great. Every time my MRIs came back stable it would reinforce my belief that I was doing fine. However, this past year I started to have right side weakness and I have a very pronounced limp. I cannot hike, or even walk the long distances I used to. I started copaxone this past year, because my Doc was going to stop "seeing' me if I did not take an active role in my health.
I honestly wished that I did not rely on just the diet/exercise for the past 6 years. I should have been including a disease modifying med also. Well now that I am, I am hopeful that there will be no more progression.
Good luck in your decision.

I tell myself that I will take a break in the future if I can long term make the diet change. I did the Paleo diet for anti-inflammation. I will have to look into Swank. I found that when I cheat a little it turns into a waterfall for me.
