I suggest you contact Biogen who is the laboratory that makes these MS therapy drugs. They have programs for people who may have benefits with limits or people who just can't afford the copays and cost of the drugs. I have been on a program with the company for more than 5 years. Currently, I'm on what's called the "Copay Program". Whatever my copay is with my insurance Bioger pay it for me. The first program I was on Biogen Idec delivered to my home a 3 months of the medication at no charge to me. Call 1-800-456-2255 and just ask if there is a program that fits your needs. They do contact your insurance and may request a 1040 if applicable. Good luck!

This is truly a mess! My medicare is effective April 1st and I do not qualify for the "Extra Help," as told to me by Social Security so I'm basically going to have to stop my Avonex. Medicare will pay for the injection if my MS doc gives the shot in the office, which he doesn't do...so...

The co-pays are too high for this drug. Does anyone have a good supplement insurance (ex. AARP United Heathcare) that covers decently the rest of our drugs? Thanks.

I have Medicare part D, as well. I thought you had to have a part d plan if you didnt have private insure script coverage. Anyway, I am on T ecfidera. As with most MS meds, the cost will take your breath away. My Part D covers the drug (after some appeals for coverage) but leaves me with about an $800/month co-pay. The specialty pharmacy hooked me up with a foundation that covers my co-pay.

My farther in law has medicare and b/c

I am getting ready to start medicare in August and since I know nothing about the process yet, I can't help. But it is adding to my anxiety. However, in my poking around, Is medicare Part D for prescriptions? I hope there is a solution, because I take Avonex. I have private insurance now, but was told that it will expire when Medicare begins.
