Will those who have chosen to not take the DMD med's tell me your results.

@A MyMSTeam Member. thank you for your response. I don't know what CRABS meds are. Did you alter your diet while off meds? Sorry for your progression of the disease. I was on Tecfidera but had to stop because it affected my liver. After being off of Tecfidera for two weeks my liver function was back to normal. Waiting to hear from the neurologist to see what she suggests next. I feel better off the meds but I have also altered my diet. My bother was diagnosed 20 years ago and never took any treatment. His most recent MRI showed no new lesion. Since I feel so good, it is hard to consider taking treatment.

Yep it's hard to decide because there isn't an immediate cause and effect. I was off meds for awhile and was feeling great but then when it came back it came with a vengeance. So my two cents is stay on the drugs and keep vigilant with exercise and the best diet possible. I think gluten and dairy free make an immediate difference and certainly can't hurt. I have heard many people regret not taking DMDs but rarely hear "I wish I never took those drugs." But it's a journey and lifetime of living with disease so I think it's OK to figure out what's best for you now and change if you need to.

My result after taking each of the so called CRABS meds for a year each with no provable positive impact and then taking 3-4 years off the meds was to have a killer episode (not literally) which has never ceased. I've gone from RR to SP. I take Techfludera now, which I find much easier to bear than the constant injections and flu like symptoms.

I have recently stopped taking any meds as the disease has been progressing anyway. I will say I feel better and my attitude is SO much better. Despite the walking problems, starting to feel like the old me!

I use to take dmd's. Not anymore tho. I just take maintenance meds. I feel better off them. I do feel my body progressing, but if feels better than it did on those chemicals. I call dmd's bandaids. They are not intended to cure, just to cover them. Big pharma is making too much money on us to actually come out with a cure. Off my pedestal and back to normal. Sorry.
