I've been using avonex for almost 4 years now, I have not had any bad side effects except for a bruise here or there and sometimes a tender thigh at injection site. Reading others comments leads me to the conclusion that you never know how your body will react to each medication. That's one of the reasons there are so many choices (not just for ms but other meds too) everyone's body chemistry is different and will react differently to the same medication. My advice? If your neuro is recommending trying it, try it. There are other options if you have bad side effects.

It took about six months before it became just discomfort. I have only been using Avonex since December 2014. I hope that there will be less side effects, the longer I stay on it. I also take tylenol before injections. I also inject at about 900 pm.

@A MyMSTeam Member - saw your questions about tec and your legs. I was on it for about 2 years or so and have been off it for nearly a month. Since that time, I've noticed increased weakness in my legs, but there again, it could be due to going through a flare since I've been on nothing.

@A MyMSTeam Member - I'm to start on Plegridy next week once I see my neuro since Tecfidera robbed me of all appetite.

I found that by taking 2 Advil before my injection and 2 after I had few side effects. I also did my injection before bed so if I had side effects I slept through them.
