There are two goes of meds we all can take. Disease modifying drugs (DMDs) and symptom management drugs. I am on Gilenya and have been for over a year. Gilenya, along with each of the other DMDs will not make your current symptoms any better. The only thing these meds can do is try to prevent them from getting worse. Symptom management drugs (mine include gabapentin and tizanadine) won't do anything to control MS, they only help mask symptoms we already have. I love Gilenya and have not had any flare ups since starting it, but I do still have and have to manage the symptoms that I had prior to starting Gilenya.
