I usually have to balance between how bad the spasm is vs how much I really need my legs to feel normal. Generally I just grit my teeth and put up with the spasm though because I can't stand my legs feeling strange. Abdominal spasms are harsh though.

I feel for you. I remember my experience with ms hug. Sometimes it grabbed enough to make it feel difficult to breathe. Having been pretty heat sensitive at times myself, I understand your reluctance to use a heat pad. But heat did help take the edge off for me- maybe try having a cold pack on your neck while you apply heat where you need it? I bought an awesome cold pack that goes around the neck and cools the blood in the jugular, called Black Ice. Was years ago that I got it, but is still holding up well. The only other thing that took a slight edge off was using Robax Platinum (Advil combined with muscle relaxant)- it didn't make a huge difference, but made things slightly more tolerable when it was really grabby. Hadn't tried any prescription meds for ms hug. Hope this "hug" departs soon for you.

Soft foods and liquid shakes- I have gastrophareses and if I over eat it gets very painful but easy digestible foods help that

The muscles around my stomach,I would try the heat but my heat intolerance is pretty bad, lately just having a sheet on my legs make them go numb.
