Howdy
Looking for folks who made the switch from daily 20 to 40. I did the switch a year ago and now my MRI came back with new lesions after 12 months. Wondering, if this is just a coininsidence? I went three years with stable MRI before the switch. Anyone else see changes in their MRI after switching?

Now my Doc wants me on Tecfidera, but I have a high JCV count and already have stomach issues. Plus, I'm not happy about trying a medication that hasn't been around for a longer time. Don't know… read more

I can't speak for anyone else's experience. I started giving myself shot of betaseron in March 2013. In Oct. 2014, my white blood cells were low and I was experiencing a severity of my symptoms. The doctor told me to stop taking the betaseron. I saw a doctor who specializes in MS I have been taking Tecfidera since February, 2015. I've not experienced any side effects. I have GERD, and Tecfidera has not made it worse. I am not endorsing Tecfidera. I just want to give you an alternative point of view on the internet. Usually all you read is the negative stuff about a procedure or prescription.

Cool lioness- my doc saw other differences too and asked if I get headaches, which I do. She said it wasn't an MS lesion, but from headaches. Maybe that is what your doctor meant to imply

I switched from 20 to 40 6 months ago. I will be repeating my mri s soon. I was on daily for 4 years and have lipoatrophy on both arms. Apparently I injected in the same area most of the time. Arms are awkward for me. When the nurse came for a refresher when switching strengths, she told me to stop injecting arms. I told my doctor that I didn't like doing my thighs because it hurt (so I would warm a washcloth for that area) he said I could skip them. I now inject only my hips and stomach. I just make sure to vary the spot.works for me. No problems at all.

I switched from 20 to 40 mg about a year ago and had my annual MRI last month. No new MS activity. No new lesions. Copaxone 3x wkly appears to be working for me. However, I am developing lipoatrophy in the form of divots on my thighs despite rotating my shots religiously. My dr. has spoken to me about switching to Avonex, but I don't want to switch at this time due to the potential side effects of Avonex. I tolerate Copaxone pretty well apart from temporary site reactions and the lipoatrophy.

cool lioness - thanks, I just sent an email with this proposal. I do wonder if the 40 is causing anyone else more lesions simply because four days a month we aren't getting the meds.
