I was on gilenya for 2 and 1/2 years. I felt horrible on it and had a lot of bad side effects. However I now have chronic leukopenia. My first test a little over a yr ago my ferritin level was a 4 and had an iron infusion. Within 8 months it went from after infusion to 126 in 4 months to 104, then 4 more months it’s at a 10. I had my second iron infusion and waiting to see how long this iron infusion stays in my body. I stopped taking gilenya but still am not seeing an improvement yet. Can ms in itself cause leukopenia?

Did some light research for you on this. There are 5 categories of leukocytes. Has to do with your immune system. Think is a thing can be a problem with most of the medications we take for MS. Just from what I have seen and have been told about myself, also. Here is a little information that may be beneficial>>>Eating a nutritious diet can help you prevent developing infections that lead to leukocytes in the building. Consuming cranberries and cranberry juice creates a lining in the urinary tract that makes it difficult for bacteria to adhere and grow. Avoid drinking cranberry juice that has high sugar content as this can lead to other health concerns. Drinking a mixture of water and baking soda can alter the pH in your urinary system which can help expel bacteria causing an infection. Consuming foods high in B and C vitamins can help you maintain a healthy immune system which will help you fight off infections more effectively. http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com...

Did they alter your medication? I've also recently experienced heart issues which hospitalized me, due to low potassium. I have troubles walking. Can't leave the apt most days.

I have. My neurologist just changed the way I take it. I'm now at every 3 days. But my leukocytes are still low. I don't see him till May. I will be asking him about it then. Blessings!
