I'm new to the site and was wondering if there are many people on here who have Type 1 Diabetes and MS? I'm pretty sure that none of my doctors have any other patients with both. I was just wondering in what ways people are experiencing one affecting the other.
I have had type 1 diabetes for 45 years and was diagnosed with MS in 2013. It seems I've been paying more attention to my MS than my diabetes. My Endo is not happy with this answer because my H1C has gone up. My blood sugars are up and down anyway. Honestly I don't have the energy to check my sugar all of the time. I do know that when my sugar is low I can hardly walk, worsens my MS symptoms. I don't think that one has anything to do with the other but both must be managed carefully. Sure, when I get a chance!
Hello, Sue has PPMS and had Type 2 diabetes. The diabetes no longer appears in her blood tests which we believe is down to The Wahls Protocol diet. We are in virtual Ketosis [no carbs] and her MS has dramatically improved asa well. Dr Wahls is from the USA and we are in The UK.
makes you wonder for i know when you don't feel good sugar goes up so wouldn't that be a conflict i do not have sugar but my mom does so i know how sugar works.
My neurologist keeps telling me that one won't effect the other, and my diabetic nurses keep saying that MS is effecting my diabetes management (which is obvious from my blood sugars). However, I am the only patient that any of them (doctors or nurses) have with both conditions :/ so the don't really know for sure. I was just wondering if anyone else was having the same issues, and if they have any suggestions to help manage both?
Ask your Neurologist to help you problem solve your tricky multiple conditions. Chances are he or she knows how you should handle both.
