I'd be nervous of that shingles jab - doesn't your neuro know about it? Truth is, Tecfidera is such a new drug, there isn't loads of info on it. Is there a risk of you getting shingles?

I have been on Copaxone since about 2000, my MS is stable and has been for several years, I have never been offered any other medication. I have flu shot every year in my left arm then put it in a sling and go to bed, I had the Shingles shot last year same thing & I was just fine. My biggest problem is my bladder which I take medication for at home and a different one when I go out. Praise the Lord for depends! I am 68 & have had this MS inconvenience since 7 1. When I look for day to day management I look @ Montel Williams check out what he is up to. I have a neurologist that has known me since 83 & now there is another that prescribes another med for my walking. I am losing some hair but there is over the counter stuff for that & I have a great collection of hats. When I wake up and put my feet on the floor the devil says watch out she's up. About the Solumedrol iv I have had that back in the early days and at the time I used to say "if this was a street drug it would be worth thousands! Just be sure you supplement with calcium & of course vitamin D most of all keep your mind active and get happy a little puppy that will stay little would be a good thing.

A good rule is to avoid any live vaccines. Others are fine, particularly flu and pneumonia which are definitely recommended.

It depends on what medication you are on. Shingles is a live vaccine and should be avoided with many DMTs.

My neurologist informed me we can get any kind of shot as long as it is NOT a live-virus.
